To look your best, here are some things you should know before your senior portrait session:

Hair cuts that are a couple days old look a couple days old: Unnatural. Get your hair cut at least a few days in advance. While getting ready, do not use too much hair spray. Hair spray dulls hair, and flattens light.

Dark, solid colors are more slimming than lighter colors. Patterns and stripes are busy take attention away from the face, which is the most important part of any portrait. Long sleeves are a plus. In the same vein, simple, thin, or small jewlery lends itself better to portraiture.

Guys, bring a comb. Ladies, bring a comb and any make-up touch-ups you feel you might need. It's better to be with than to be without in this regard.

Bring at least one change of clothes. I suggest something "casual", like blue jeans and a nice shirt, and something more formal.

If you want to bring props to help express your interests, that is okay. Props include things like cars or motorcycles, sports equipment (balls, jerseys), musical instruments, sunglasses, hats, skateboards, umbrellas, and flowers.
